Lecturer
Amy Rock is a longtime resident of Ohio, and a recent transplant to Northern California, where she teaches geography, GIS and cartography in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Analysis at Cal Poly Humboldt. She is also the Director of the Geospatial Certificate Program, offered through the College of Extended Education and Global Engagement.
Doc Rock encourages her students to become engaged in their communities and think critically about politics, economic and community development and the role of nonprofit organizations in our society. She works with nonprofits and community organizations to bring geospatial thinking to contemporary issues. An avid map geek, she shamelessly judges a book (or video game) by its map.
Community development, rural development, GIS, cartography, participatory GIS and citizen mapping.
